Kamden Cooper
Hello! Thinking about taking that first step toward healing, growth, or managing whatever life has thrown your way? That first step can feel difficult, but you don’t have to do it alone. I’m here to help you move toward meaningful change while feeling supported, understood, and empowered along the way.
I believe in meeting clients where they are and taking the time to understand the full picture of their experiences. Our relationships, environments, and life experiences all shape how we move through the world, and together we can explore how those experiences may be impacting the present.
I work with children (ages 3+), adolescents, and young adults navigating trauma, anxiety, identity development, life transitions, depression, and self-esteem challenges. I have a special passion for supporting children and teens and helping them feel seen, heard, and valued.
I believe therapy is most impactful when it extends beyond the therapy room. Because of this, I value collaboration with parents and caregivers and view them as important partners in the therapeutic process. My goal is to help clients build practical skills that can be integrated into everyday life and used long after therapy ends.
When working with children, I focus on creating a safe and developmentally appropriate space where they can express themselves in ways that feel natural to them. I often incorporate play-based techniques, creative activities, crafts, music, and expressive interventions to help children process emotions and experiences. I also intentionally work to build self-esteem and confidence in my younger clients, helping them recognize the strengths and qualities that make them unique.
With adolescents and young adults, I use a collaborative and client-centered approach that honors each individual as the expert of their own experience. Therapy can be a space for self-expression, exploration, and making sense of life’s transitions. I especially enjoy helping clients navigate identity development, emotional regulation, relationship concerns, and the challenges that can come with increased independence and responsibility.
My therapeutic approach is trauma-informed, holistic, and culturally responsive. I primarily work from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) lens while integrating attachment-based, mindfulness-based, and Adlerian techniques to tailor treatment to each client’s needs. I am certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and currently working toward Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credentialing under the supervision of Brandy Rogers, LPC, RPT-S, ACS, CPCS.
I strive to create a therapeutic environment that feels warm, engaging, and adaptable. Some sessions may feel energetic and interactive, while others may feel calm and grounding depending on what a client needs at the moment. Across all sessions, my goal is to provide a consistent and accepting presence where clients feel genuinely supported without judgment.
My therapy style is warm, creative, and collaborative. I enjoy incorporating activities, crafts, music, and expressive techniques into sessions to help clients feel comfortable and engaged. I believe healing begins with compassion, not judgment, and I strive to create a safe, supportive space where clients can show up authentically and feel understood.
I have experience supporting clients through trauma, including sexual and physical abuse, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and self-esteem concerns. I also enjoy helping parents and caregivers develop effective tools to better understand and respond to their child’s needs.
My goal is to help clients reconnect with their strengths, build confidence in their ability to navigate challenges, and develop practical coping skills they can carry beyond the therapy space.
Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy playing volleyball, junk journaling, scrapbooking, cooking, baking, spending time with friends and family, and visiting local farmer’s markets. I believe creativity, connection, and balance are important parts of overall well-being, and these interests often inspire the warmth and creativity I bring into sessions.
Some of my favorite counseling resources include the podcasts Emerging Minds, Therapist Uncensored hosted by Sue Marriott and Ann Kelley, and 2 Dudes Talkin’ Therapy. Books and authors that have influenced my work include The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk, M.D., Boundaries by Henry Cloud, and Schopenhauer’s Porcupines: Intimacy and Its Dilemmas by Deborah Anna Luepnitz, as well as the work of Gabor Maté, Drs. John and Julie Gottman, and Brené Brown.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Augusta University. I am currently pursuing licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor and practice under the supervision of Brandy Rogers, LPC, RPT-S, ACS, CPCS and direction of AICC Clinical Director, Christi Bartolomucci, PhD, LPC, CPCS.
If you’re ready to take the next step, I would be honored to support you. I welcome any questions you may have as you decide whether working together feels like the right fit.
