Licensed Professional Counselor

National Certified Counselor

Taking the step to find the right counselor can be a difficult and overwhelming experience. I’m glad you’ve made it this far! I would love to help you find the support and healing that you’re looking for. Counseling children, adolescents, young adults, and parents has been my passion since as long as I can remember. It brings me such joy to help someone who is struggling either emotionally or spiritually to find peace, comfort, and happiness in their lives. I truly believe I have the most rewarding job in the world!

I received my Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University in 2005. I am a National Certified Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2008.  I have over 15 years of experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families in a wide range of counseling settings including a non-profit community counseling center, independent school settings, and most recently private practice. When working with clients, I offer an approach that is tailored to the needs of each individual. I strive to provide a safe and welcoming environment where my clients feel heard, understood, valued, and encouraged to explore and discover within themselves a healthier approach to life's difficulties. I believe that this can only be done when trust and connection between a client and therapist is developed. This is my number one priority from the moment you walk in the front door.

I enjoy utilizing a wide range of counseling approaches to address the uniqueness of each of my clients. Most often I use a combination of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), strengths-based counseling and mindfulness techniques. In addition, I love to integrate play therapy and art therapy techniques, which offers clients of all ages a safe place to express thoughts and feelings in a non-threatening way. This is especially helpful for clients who struggle to communicate thoughts and feelings through words. Throughout my work with clients, I believe in the power of collaboration, especially when creating goals that lead to lasting behavioral change.

I offer an array of services that include individual and group counseling, summer camps, and therapeutic book clubs for children 7 and up, as well as college-aged young adults.  I also am available to lead presentations in the local private and public schools that focus on common mental health topics. I have a true passion for helping those who are struggling with stress, ASD, anxiety, anger, coping skills, depression, self-esteem, OCD, adjustment disorders, family struggles, divorce, school-related issues, emotional regulation, perfectionism, personal growth, and social skills challenges. I am a Licensed Be Body Positive Facilitator, which allows me to help individuals who struggle with body image. In addition, I also provide parent support, which offers un-biased support and guidance to parents so that you can feel more confident and equipped in handling your child’s social, emotional, and/or behavioral needs. I have recently been trained in SPACE treatment by Dr. Eli Lebowitz, from the Yale Child Study Center. SPACE (Supporting Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) is a parent-based treatment program for children and adolescents with anxiety and OCD related problems. Parents learn how to respond more supportively to their anxious child while reducing accommodations they have been making to their child's anxiety symptoms.

Outside of the counseling office, I enjoy spending time at the gym, playing in the park with my 8-year-old, going on day trips with my family, trying new restaurants (I am a definite “foodie” at heart), and reading suspense novels.

I look forward to meeting you soon and traveling together on this journey to good mental health and well-being!
